Racing Driver

Mary is an amateur racing driver based in the North East of England. 

Mary started racing as a result of knowing others who already raced, and one of them let her drive their car on a track day at Croft Circuit, Darlington, UK. Mary had karting experience from childhood however never raced competitively, but always had a love of motorsport.

Mary completed her ARDS at Oulton Park on 10th August 2021 and 10 days later competed in her first ever race at Anglesey Circuit in Wales. Mary races a Mazda MX5 Mk1 and competed in the last 2 rounds of the 5 Club MX5 Cup 2021 season. Mary has raced in this championship till the present day since. Mary also races in other championships such as the Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship through the Darlington and District Motor Club.

Mary’s Mazda MX5 has been built by her father Paul, who also races in MX5 championships. Mary has already had success in Mazda’s, winning ‘driver of the weekend’ in the Massimo Tyres 5Club MX5 Cup at Croft in April 2024, as well as 1st and 2nd in class in races with the Darlington and District Motor Club.

For the 2024 season Mary’s father Paul rebuilt the car over the winter, so Mary has every chance of improving and remaining competitive with other drivers.

Mary’s favourite circuit is Brands Hatch GP.

Interesting fact – Still plays competitive 11-a-side football for local team.
